There’s bipartisan consensus: The current structure of classified briefings on Iran by the Trump administration isn’t giving lawmakers the information they need.
Recent classified briefings have included mid-level Pentagon officials who have not provided detailed answers on possible scenarios for hostilities or the cost of the conflict, according to lawmakers from both parties.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said he’d like another briefing by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Dan Caine.
“The other briefings we have are pretty worthless. I mean they just send middle-level people from the department over to read prepared texts,” Kennedy said.
