Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that “prospects don’t look great” for a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. Rubio added the Trump administration has “clearly taken a side” to support Kyiv.
“Neither side have been willing to make concessions, particularly on the Russian side, necessary in order to bring peace about,” Rubio said.
Rubio’s comments come as the House prepares to vote on a discharge petition that would send further aid to Ukraine while sanctioning Russia. A number of GOP lawmakers have accused President Donald Trump of slow-walking aid to Ukraine — threatening to hold up must-pass bills to secure further assistance.
