A group of Senate Democrats is poised to force votes on resolutions that would block the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of bombs and other military equipment to Israel.
Led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the three joint resolutions of disapproval seek to target U.S. military aid to Israel that backers of the legislation link to the ongoing campaign against Iran.
“Donald Trump, working in lockstep with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, launched a reckless and unconstitutional war,” Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), who cosponsored the resolutions, said in a Thursday statement. “I do not support sending more offensive weapons to the Netanyahu government.”
