Defense contractors are scrambling to find their footing after a week of mixed messaging from the Trump administration that ranged from a pledge to punish “underperforming” companies to the promise of a windfall in military spending.

On the plus side for those doing business with the Defense Department: President Donald Trump’s call for a 50% increase in Pentagon funding next year. There was also the increased possibility that industry pleas for more certainty there will be long-term funding for certain weapons are being heard.
