The House cleared a bill to overhaul the regulation and structure of U.S. capital markets with substantial bipartisan support.
The House voted 279-136 Wednesday afternoon to advance the FIT for the 21st Century Act, a crypto-backed bill that would introduce significant changes to the authorities of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
More than 70 Democrats voted in favor of this bill. That is a towering amount of bipartisan support for an industry that was all but ostracized from Washington between late 2022 and 2023.
