GENIUS faces an uncertain House reception

Stablecoin legislation from the Senate isn’t on a glide path through the House quite yet.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump called on the House to move “LIGHTNING FAST” to pass a “clean” version of the GENIUS Act when lawmakers return from recess. The bipartisan bill got 68 votes in the Senate on Tuesday.

But House Republican leadership sources say they’re not prepared to roll out the welcome mat quite yet. Committee leaders, including House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.), have been adamant behind the scenes that the Senate bill requires changes before coming to the House floor.
