Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) is praising what a $30,000 SALT cap would do for her district, breaking with fellow New Yorkers on the deduction limit.

The House Ways and Means Committee is working to finalize its tax bill before a markup next Tuesday. Republican members of the panel discussed capping deductions for state and local taxes at $30,000 among their options. The SALT cap is currently $10,000, but it’s set to expire at the end of the year.
