Smith is selling his tax deal — to a fractured Senate

Rep. Jason Smith (R-Mo.) is working overtime.

The House Ways and Means Committee chair already scored an overwhelming vote in the House for the bipartisan tax deal. Now Smith is pitching the plan to a divided Senate GOP.

Among the bill’s opponents is the Senate Finance Committee’s top Republican, Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), whose position is vexing supporters, including Smith.
