Rep. Frank Lucas

Why the race to replace McHenry is wide-open

Washington — and that includes us — has been talking about the race to succeed Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) atop the House Financial Services Committee in a particular way.

We’re not sure how much longer that frame will hold.

As the story goes, there are three frontrunners: Reps. French Hill (R-Ark.), Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) and Andy Barr (R-Ky.). All three have been close lieutenants to McHenry. Each has his own strengths in fundraising, policy and political acumen, which we last covered here.
