House GOP reconciliation resistance mounts, leadership preaches patience

House Republican deficit hawks are deeply skeptical of the GOP leadership’s plan to compromise on a budget resolution that sets drastically different House and Senate floors for spending cuts. But House leaders are asking for some patience on the Senate’s behalf.

Speaker Mike Johnson told GOP members at this morning’s conference meeting that they need to give Senate Republicans some space to work through reconciliation plans with their members, according to multiple sources in the room.
