Labor Democrats demand hearing on BLS ouster

First in the Vault: Democrats on the House Education and Workforce Committee are urging Chair Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) to hold a hearing following the firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntarfer.

In a letter dated Wednesday and signed by Reps. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) and Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.), the lawmakers said they “deserve the opportunity to understand why the termination took place and examine whether this abrupt firing will impact operations.”
