LaHood leads bipartisan bill to streamline tax filing

First in Punchbowl News: Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) is leading the introduction of a new bipartisan bill meant to simplify tax filing.

The bill would aim to streamline filing. It would also allow documents submitted online to be counted as on time when they’re filed, rather than when they’re received and processed. Plus, the legislation would allow businesses to choose to file taxes as S corporations more quickly and change estimated income tax payment deadlines to more regular intervals.
