The Credit Card Competition Act is having another pivotal moment in Washington. This time around, the bill’s longtime champion is letting his GOP counterpart take the lead.
We caught up with Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) on the sidelines of a CODEL last week in Denmark. The Illinois Democrat said his partnership with Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) had paid off in spades during the second Trump administration.
“I’ve done it for years, but his input makes a real difference,” Durbin said of Marshall. Durbin said the bill has a new shorthand title, too: “We basically have a rule of whoever’s in the majority is the lead sponsor. So it’s Marshall-Durbin at this point.”
