Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) waited nearly three decades to become the chair of the House Financial Services Committee in 2018. Six years later, with control of the House expected to come down to the wire, Waters is preparing to pick the gavel back up.

She hasn’t lost her sense of urgency.
