Some big names from the tax world gathered for an event alongside the RNC on Tuesday as lawmakers and the business community ramp up for a huge 2025 tax fight.

The “toast to the House Ways and Means majority” organized by lobbying powerhouse Akin drew current and former lawmakers, lobbyists and senior staffers for a reception at Il Cervo in Milwaukee. Former Ways and Means Committee Chair Kevin Brady (R-Texas), who joined Akin as a senior consultant this spring, and current Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) both gave brief remarks, we’re told.
