Neal draws a line on Obamacare subsidies

Rep. Richie Neal (D-Mass.) nixed the idea of a one-year extension for the enhanced Obamacare subsidies on Wednesday, drawing a red line in the debate. That’s something Neal rarely does publicly.

“There’s no way we’re going to support a one-year extension. That’s a foregone conclusion,” said Neal, the top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee. “Because that is similar to what [Republicans have] done on the hospital cuts. It buys them one year — past the election. That’s not a strategy. That’s Machiavellian.”
