Senate Democrats are turning up the pressure to force an extension of boosted Obamacare subsidies this year.

So far, Republicans aren’t blinking. Democrats will need to fight hard to have a chance at renewing the enhanced premium tax credits that expire Dec. 31 — whether that’s via bipartisan health talks or the government funding process.

There’s a handful of GOP lawmakers who want to extend the subsidies, but there’s a lot of resistance. Multiple Republicans have indicated the credits would at least need to be limited if they’re extended, which would make a deal tougher for Democrats.
