Every Democratic member of the Senate Finance and Banking committees is demanding that both panels hold hearings on Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency getting access to Treasury payment systems.
The committees’ top Democrats, Sens. Ron Wyden (Ore.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), led a letter to the panels’ Republican chairs asking that they “immediately hold hearings” on the situation and bring in Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to testify.
“It is critical that the Senate understands this threat to the stability of a payment system that millions of Americans rely upon and that is critical to America’s global financial standing,” the letter says.
