Senate GOP asks for leap of faith on stablecoin bill

Senate Republican Leadership is plunging ahead with a procedural vote on the GENIUS Act despite a lack of legislative text just minutes before.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has been racing behind the scenes to draft text after landing on an agreement in principle yesterday. So far, Republicans have rebuffed Democratic pleas to postpone the vote.

“This is a bill that they've continued to modify, that's had massive support, bipartisan, and now the Democrats are trying to be obstructive,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said this morning.

It's a quintessential Senate blame game. This time, the shape of the financial system is on the line. “We're not gonna get rolled on this,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) told reporters today.
