The Senate Banking Committee took a sharp right turn into immigration policy this morning thanks to Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
Scott, the top Republican on the Senate Banking panel, pressed Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell at length on the economic impacts of illegal immigration. Scott also happens to be a contender to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate ahead of the 2024 general election. Immigration has long been one of Trump’s top policy issues.
