Trump reverses on SALT

Another day, another surprise tax promise from former President Donald Trump.

In a post on Truth Social promoting his rally on Long Island tomorrow, Trump said he will “get SALT back,” referencing the $10,000 cap on deducting state and local taxes that he signed into law. It’s a striking, politically timed reversal. Republicans created the current SALT cap in 2017 in the Trump tax cuts.
