Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told House lawmakers Tuesday afternoon that the Trump administration will not move forward on an “anti-weaponization” fund, a major retreat that could allow the Senate to proceed on the GOP’s immigration enforcement reconciliation package.
The big question now is whether Blanche’s declaration is sufficient for at least 50 Senate Republicans to advance the $70 billion reconciliation bill to fund ICE and Border Patrol. Still, it’s a good sign for Senate GOP leaders, who indicated today they want to begin voting on Wednesday.
