Danger! House Republicans are staring down a difficult procedural vote later today on whether to move ahead with the bipartisan minibus funding package. Passing this measure is a key step for Hill leaders in enacting all nine remaining FY2026 spending bills before the Jan. 30 deadline.
Earlier Wednesday, the House Rules Committee advanced the rule for the minibus package. Rules was forced to recess overnight due to concerns from conservatives over earmarks.
The compromise outlined in the rule splits consideration of the Commerce-Justice-Science portion of the minibus from the other two bills — Interior and Energy and Water. In other words, there will be one vote on CJS and another on Energy and Water and Interior.
