A special panel of the House Ethics Committee wrestled with a motion Thursday by embattled Democratic Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (Fla.) to delay the secretive panel’s proceedings against her.
But the committee is likely to move forward with a rare “trial” of a sitting member.
The back-and-forth between Ethics Committee members and Cherfilus-McCormick’s lawyer was still unfolding as we went to press, so we’ll keep you up to date when a decision is made. Expulsion is a real possibility if Cherfilus-McCormick is found guilty by the Ethics panel.
