A judge Thursday denied Rep. LaMonica McIver’s (D-N.J.) request to dismiss two of the three criminal counts in the federal indictment accusing her of assaulting law enforcement during a protest at an ICE detention facility in May.
U.S. District Judge Jamel Semper, appointed by former President Joe Biden, reserved judgment on one of the counts today.
McIver was indicted after a tussle with federal law enforcement during a May 9 visit to inspect the ICE facility in Newark, N.J. McIver has denied the charges and claimed the Trump administration is singling her out for prosecution.
