The Pentagon appears to be deprioritizing the completion of key, congressionally required reviews surrounding the military’s plans for distributing forces globally and modernizing the United States’ nuclear weapons systems.
Defense Department policy chief Elbridge Colby revealed to lawmakers this week that he is not planning to submit a traditional, legislatively mandated Nuclear Posture Review anytime soon — a declaration that raised some GOP eyebrows.
And in a separate interview with us ahead of his appearances on Capitol Hill this week, Colby indicated the release of the Global Posture Review – which provides a comprehensive look at how U.S. troops, assets and resources are positioned abroad – has slipped. It’s not clear when DOD may finalize it.
