The GOP’s FY2027 Transportation-HUD spending bill that the House Appropriations Committee will mark up on Wednesday includes a lot of restrictions on how the Trump administration can spend that money.
The House Republicans’ bill would provide around $92 billion across agencies, including the FAA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is nearly a 10% cut from FY2026 funding levels. While both Democrats and Republicans like to highlight the many ways the bill slashes funding in areas like rail, the bill also prevents the administration from doing whatever it wants for certain items.
