President-elect Donald Trump may have already gone too far for many Senate Republicans.
Trump’s announcement that he intends to nominate Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) sent shockwaves through the Senate Republican Conference Wednesday. It came just a few hours after Republicans were triumphant over the election of John Thune as Senate majority leader and vowed to prioritize confirmation of Trump’s nominees.
