The Matt Gaetz saga is over — for the moment. But Capitol Hill’s focus will now turn to President-elect Donald Trump’s other controversial Cabinet nominees who may face a difficult road to Senate confirmation.
Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense, was on Capitol Hill Thursday for meetings with GOP senators. Vice President-elect JD Vance accompanied Hegseth, along with John Wason, the sherpa for Hegseth’s nomination.
