Senate GOP on track for first legislative win — with Dem help

The Senate will take an initial step Thursday toward notching the first legislative win for the new GOP majority.

Senators will vote to open up debate on the Laken Riley Act at 3 p.m. before leaving town for the week. The legislation would make it easier for law enforcement to detain undocumented immigrants accused of crimes. Senate Democrats blocked the bill last year, but several Democratic senators are backing it this time.
