Daytime and late-night TV shows have to give competing candidates equal airtime, even when it comes to lawmakers in safe seats, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr said Thursday. 

Carr changed a years-long FCC precedent last week, applying the “equal opportunities requirement” for political candidates to late-night and morning talk shows. Carr and his allies said he’s cracking down on programs that primarily feature Democratic politicians, leaving out Republican voices.
