Cruz boosts spectrum proposal, tries to save AI moratorium

The Senate Commerce Committee’s reconciliation proposal would be a boon for the wireless industry while also potentially delivering a key victory for companies involved in the artificial intelligence business.

The proposal would renew the Federal Communications Commission’s authority to auction airwaves for 10 years and make 800 MHz of new spectrum available for auction. That’s more than what President Donald Trump requested, but we told you it was part of Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) plans.
