Leading congressional China hawks warned Tuesday that President Donald Trump should not include TikTok as part of any potential trade talks with China.
The chair and ranking member of the House Select Committee on China, Reps. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), reinforced their view that the Chinese government shouldn’t have control over TikTok if the app is to operate in the United States. They said it's possible the Chinese Communist Party could use Trump’s desire to save TikTok as leverage in any trade talks that could emerge between two economic powers.
