A long-awaited bipartisan House proposal to regulate artificial intelligence would require companies to provide the government with transparency into the risks posed by the most powerful models and preempt some state laws.
Reps. Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.), Lori Trahan (D-Mass.), Erin Houchin (R-Ind.), Scott Peters (D-Calif.) and others have finalized a discussion draft of the Great American Artificial Intelligence Act for release on Thursday. Republican Hill leaders and the White House hope to move quickly to regulate the rapidly evolving technology.
