Hawks not happy with spectrum deal

Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) troubles with two crucial tech provisions in the reconciliation bill aren’t over.

GOP Sens. Deb Fischer (Neb.), Mike Rounds (S.D.) and Tom Cotton (Ark.) want changes to the spectrum auctions portion of the bill. Fischer’s spokesperson Craig Wheeler said the language released Thursday "does not accurately reflect" the agreement between Cruz and GOP hawks. Cruz disputes this.

Meanwhile, Cruz's proposal to restrict states’ ability to regulate artificial intelligence still faces procedural challenges.
