Lawmakers are increasingly worried about nonconsensual, explicit deepfakes, and many are pushing the Federal Trade Commission to use its new powers to force online platforms to take the material down.
The concern is especially acute given fury over the trend of people using Elon Musk’s Grok to fabricate images of people — mainly women — in bathing suits, and reports that the algorithm has also produced nude pictures and depictions of kids.
