The House Energy and Commerce Committee is officially organized.
The first meeting of the panel, which is the epicenter of tech policy on the Hill, was a sedate, feel-good affair, as committee leaders highlighted the bipartisan nature of the panel.
But the next couple of months will probably be heavier on partisanship as Republicans gear up for their reconciliation bill and Democrats attack those GOP priorities. But if today’s cordiality survives the next several weeks, we can expect some bipartisan compromises down the road.
