YouTube is expanding tools for sniffing out fake portrayals of individuals on the app to a select group of government officials, political candidates and journalists.
The Google-owned video platform announced on Tuesday that the tool, which would allow participants in the pilot program to request removal of deepfakes that depict them, would help protect the identities of those in the midst of breaking news, politics and other events.
