First in the Vault. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Mike Selig will defend his agency’s capacity to address fraud in prediction and derivatives markets on Thursday, according to a copy of his prepared testimony we obtained.
Selig has mounted an aggressive campaign defending the CFTC’s authority to police prediction markets. But that effort has at times been overshadowed by a winding trail of apparent insider trading tied to major Trump administration policy moves and decisions. Selig remains defiant.
“I want to be crystal clear: to anyone who engages in fraud, manipulation, or insider trading in any of our markets: we will find you, and you will face the full force of the law,” Selig will say in prepared remarks to the House Agriculture Committee.
