Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard became the fourth member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet to step down or be fired since late March after submitting her resignation Friday.
Those Cabinet departures — all by women — come as Trump flexed his political muscle by picking off a string of GOP incumbents in Republican primaries. Their offense: they angered the president somehow.
Yet Trump is also suffering through a deteriorating relationship with Hill Republicans, unwilling to rubber-stamp all of his initiatives. With one eye on the November elections, GOP lawmakers balked at Trump’s demand for $1 billion in funding for his controversial White House ballroom project.
