Senate Democrats are pressuring the Trump administration to refund tens of billions of dollars in tariff revenue, marking a new stage of their opposition to President Donald Trump’s trade wars.
Almost two dozen Democratic senators, led by Sens. Ron Wyden (Ore.), Ed Markey (Mass.) and Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), unveiled a new bill that would force the federal government to return money collected under the tariffs that the Supreme Court ruled against Friday. The high court declared that the president couldn’t use IEEPA to levy import taxes.
