The Ukraine funding debate isn’t going away.
A leading Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee charged Thursday that the Pentagon is not following lawmakers’ will when it comes to getting military aid to the embattled country trying to fight off a Russian invasion.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for answers on the Pentagon’s delay in getting $400 million to support Kyiv out the door — months after lawmakers approved the funding.
Military leaders ultimately released the dollars Tuesday, following days of bipartisan pressure. But Shaheen said lawmakers had yet to receive details about how long it would take to get the money on contract, when weapons would be delivered and what types of capabilities would ultimately be purchased.
