Senate Democrats are preparing to force a War Powers Act vote this week in response to the Trump administration’s strikes on cartel boats.

Defense: Senate Dems pause Iran war powers

For the first time in weeks, Senate Democrats aren’t planning to force a floor vote on a resolution to rein in President Donald Trump’s Iran military campaign.

Instead, facing down likely defeat on the next Iran war powers procedural vote, lawmakers have all but decided to punt on further action until next week.

“If 100 senators are here, I’m still at 50-50,” Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) told reporters Tuesday. “I am trying to find another vote. I would like our next vote to be a successful vote.”
