Social Security bill is back tonight

A widely-backed bill that would allow public workers with government pensions to collect more Social Security benefits is back on the docket tonight.

A pair of House Freedom Caucus members went rogue and tried to block the legislation during a pro forma session on Election Day, as we wrote last week. But House GOP leadership is plowing ahead with a floor vote tonight on the measure from Reps. Garret Graves (R-La.) and Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.). The bill is on the schedule for a vote under suspension, so it’ll need a two-thirds majority vote. That’s likely to happen as it has 330 cosponsors.
