Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) announced on Friday she was running in Florida’s 20th District, a safe-blue seat previously held by former Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-Fla.).
Wasserman Schultz’s current district shifted dramatically to the right under Florida’s recent redistricting. Running in the 20th District, with a plurality-Black majority, puts Wasserman Schultz in a crowded primary featuring Cherfilus-McCormick (who’s running again after resigning her seat), community organizer Elijah Manley and former Broward County Mayor Dale Holness.
