Senior Republican officials say that GOP candidate Randy Fine is lackluster, and Josh Weil, the Democrat, is gaining ground.

Weil pulls in another $75K for Florida special election

Josh Weil, the Democrat who is pulling in millions of dollars in a bid to flip the deep red seat in Florida’s 6th District, reported raising $74,550 during the last two days, according to a recently filed report with the FEC.

Among the donors are actress Lynda Carter; billionaire hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel; and Rory Gates, the son of Bill Gates.

Weil has raised $9 million in this race against Republican Randy Fine, who has raised less than $1 million. The White House is worried about losing this race. Polls show the contest tight, even though it’s a seat that President Donald Trump and former Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) – now the national security adviser – both won by 30 or more points.

Election Day is April 1.
