Blake Moore pushes for bigger CTC in GOP’s tax bill

Rep. Blake Moore is introducing a bill that would more than double the child tax credit to $4,200 for families with young kids. The Utah Republican’s proposal would be a major expansion beyond what the GOP did in the 2017 tax law, which is up for renewal this year.

Moore is pitching his CTC boost as an option for Republicans’ reconciliation package this year that would carry the Trump tax cuts and more GOP policy priorities.

It’s a notable move by Moore, a member of both the House GOP leadership and the Ways and Means Committee. He’s part of a wave of new Republicans stepping up to push for more on the CTC this year.
