How Democrats will handle Bessent, Turner noms

When the Senate Finance Committee brings Scott Bessent in Thursday morning, Democratic tax writers will have their first big chance to put down a marker on President-elect Donald Trump’s economic nominees.

Democrats on the panel are mostly expected to oppose Bessent’s nomination for Treasury secretary, according to multiple people familiar with members’ thinking. But it’s not out of the question that the hedge fund billionaire could draw some bipartisan support.
