FDIC back in the congressional spotlight next week

Next week is shaping up to be a weird splitscreen of a time for bank regulators.

The Republican House is moving full speed ahead with a semi-annual oversight hearing scheduled for next week, and Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) is prepping a resolution to condemn the chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. for failing to cooperate with congressional investigators.

The Democratic Senate Banking Committee, meanwhile, has abandoned plans to host its own oversight hearing with bank regulators on Tuesday, according to three people familiar with the planning.
