House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) said today he’s following President Donald Trump’s lead on crypto policy. That might be up for interpretation.
Hill is pushing for changes to Senate-passed stablecoin legislation from last week, even after Trump called for the House to pass a “clean” version of the GENIUS Act “ASAP.” House Republican leadership hasn’t committed to that yet.
Several reporters asked Hill during a Brookings Institution event whether he wanted the Senate’s GENIUS Act to reach the House floor unchanged and if he’d like to see stablecoin legislation combined with market structure reforms. Hill’s responses were both noncommittal and revealing.
